Graveside service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Masonic Cemetery in Grand Chain with Rev. Alan Milligan officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail Team of Marion and by local veterans.
Born Oct. 8, 1919 in Indiana, Mr. Ehrstein grew up in southern Illinois before making his way to California. He served in the Army during World War II as a medic. He and his late wife, Virginia, owned and operated a paint store in Los Angeles for many years.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary J. Ehrstein of Ellicott City, Md.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter; his parents, Michael V. and Flora Moore Ehrstein; one sister; and three brothers.
Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak is in charge of arrangements.
