Born Jan. 13, 1937 in Karnak, Mr. Canada was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Era. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Springfield. Mr. Canada retired from Borden Chemical Co. in Illiopolis after 29 years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Vivian Hausman Canada; one son, Mark Canada and wife Kynda of Springfield; two grandsons, Judson Jones and wife Rachel and Isaac Jones; two great-grandchildren, Betsy Helen and Kyle Warren Jones; two sisters, Earline Welton of Ann Arbor, Mich. and Brenda Atchinson and husband Tim of Jackson, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Lois Laverne Smith Canada; three brothers, James, William and Robert Canada; and two sisters, Mildred Holshouser and Margaret McMullen.
Funeral service was held Friday at Staab Funeral Home in Springfield. Graveside service was held Monday at Woodville Cemetery in Kevil, Ky. with Rev. Wayne Carter officiating. Military graveside rites were conducted.
