Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Mike Hardison officiating. Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Metropolis.
John entered this world on Oct. 26, 1960 in Farmington, Mo. to Joseph M. and Elizabeth Ann Ogle.
John was a millwright with Local 716, working as a turbine mechanic. He was a dive master and technical diver and was previously a staff member at Mermet Springs in Massac County. He was a member of the Metropolis Masonic Lodge and an honorary member of the Bay City Lodge. He also held memberships in BPOE 91 and Sons of The American Legion.
John was a 1978 graduate of Metropolis Community High School and attended Bailey Technical School in St. Louis, Mo. for auto mechanics. He was of Methodist Faith.
John loved nothing more than spending time camping and enjoying the outdoors with many wonderful friends. He had a passion for scuba diving and especially loved to cave dive. Hunting arrowheads was also a favorite pastime.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Karla K. Ogle; two sons, John Matthew Ogle and Jesse Ian Ogle; one daughter, Taylin McCall Lewis; his mother, Elizabeth Ann Ogle; two brothers, Kevin Ogle and wife Marge and Jeff Ogle; three nephews, Talon Gower, Benjamin Ogle and Jacob Ogle; two nieces, Sabra Gower and Kyle Ogle; one sister-in-law, Lisa Gower and husband Don; one brother-in-law, Michael Helm and wife Sonia; an his inlaws, Clifford and Wanda Helm.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph M. Ogle.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24 at the funeral home with Masonic rites being performed at 8 p.m.
