Light city agenda contains many items

The Metropolis City Council made quick work Monday night of its agenda.

The council:

• Approved the terms and conditions of accepting the airport improvement program grants from the FAA.

• Approved, in a 7-1 vote with Alderman Richard Corzine voting against, for Sean Pegram to maintain the four small soccer field for spring 2013 with in the approximate amount of $11,350.

• Approved the Industrial Committee's recommendation to reject the proposal from Metro Holdings.

• Adopted an ordinance approving a redevelopment agreement by and between the City of Metropolis and D.C. Management LLC and Darren Tockstein and Corey Bowman.

• Approved the estimate from the Massac County Highway Department for applying two coats of oil and to chip the area between existing surface and gutter on Woodhaven Drive in the approximate amount of $2,784. City employees are preparing the area. The work is expected to be completed this week.

• Approved the purchase of a meter tester for the Light Department from H.D. Utilities in the amount of $5611.12.

• Approved the replacement of computers at the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) from Kemper in the approximate amount of $2800.

• Approved employing HMG Engineering to design the proposed replacement of the barscreen at the WWTP at an approximate fee of $82,000. The project was included in the current budget and is required under the Long Term Control Plan for the Combined Sewer Separation Project.

• Approved bidding out Project No. 1 of the Combined Sewer Separation.

• Approved the replacement of online finished turbidimeter at the Water Filtration Plant not to exceed $2358.
