Survivors include one sister, Jennifer Carrel of Carondale; his stepfather, Michael Cooper of Carbondale; one uncle, John Pierce of Ava; two nieces; and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deanna Jo Wheeler Pierce; his mother, Beverly Pierce Cooper; and his grandparents.
As pertaining to his wishes, the body was cremated.
Walker Funeral Home of Carbondale was in charge of arrangements.
