How good is defending Class 4A champion Rochester? They pulled almost their entire starting unit in the middle of the second quarter against Harrisburg’s 11-1 Bulldogs.
With a 42-0 lead and more than half of the game left, Rochester Coach Derek Leonard made a classy decision and called off the dogs, so to speak.
Harrisburg had sustained a couple of notable injuries, with running back Dylan Hathaway and defensive lineman Tyler Bebout, but Bulldog Coach Jason Roper was honest in his assessment.
“With both of them playing, I don’t think it makes much difference. They’re (Rochester) that good. They’ve got three or four boys going on to either division 1 or 1-AA college football.”
Rochester, now 12-1, faces Rock Island Alleman this Friday night to decide the 4A title.
