A memorial service was held Dec. 4 in Amarillo, Texas. A prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Benavidez was baptized on Aug. 7, 1949 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in the Rock Community of Pope County. She graduated from Golconda High School in the Class of 1953.
Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia Miner and husband Fred of Canyon; one son, John Paul Griswald of Canyon; her grandchildren, Meagann Cartwright and husband Blake of Camp Pendleton, Calif. and Kimberly Miner and Rachel Miner of Canyon; her great-grandchildren, Aerilynn Ferris-Miner of Canyon and Cason Cartwright of Camp Pendleton; three sisters, Gayle West and husband Larry of Cypress, Paula Pike and husband Jim of Aurora and Kathryn Crowell and husband George of Marion; and two brothers, Dayle Morse and wife Pat of Simpson and Jack Morse and wife Rubie of Metropolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Missouri Bowman Morse; her first husband, John Wilbur Girswald Jr.; her second husband, Paul Benavidez Jr.; one sister, Ruth Hager; and one brother, Bill Morse.
