Jackie was born March 25, 1952 in Pope County to Ross and Lillian Blomer Burrus. He married Scholitta Lange Burrus on June 29, 1973 in Metropolis. Jackie and Scholitta have shared 39 years of marriage.
Jackie was retired, having worked for Guaranteed Construction for several years. He also worked as a security guard at EEI in Joppa before health issues forced his retirement. He was a member of the Brookport Church of God.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Jackie is survived by his wife, Scholitta of Brookport; one son, Jack Burrus II of Clearwater, Fla.; one brother, Donnie Burrus and wife Bonnie of Brookport; three sisters, Peggy Fairfield and husband Roy, Norma Varvel and Annie Harris and husband Darrel, all of Brookport; four brothers-in-law, Harold Lange and wife Linda and Buck Lange and wife Dorothy, all of Metropolis, and Jimmy Galbraith and Roy Wetherington, both of Brookport; five sisters-in-law, Kay Rude and husband Ed of Campus, Ill., Sandy Randles and husband Ted of Unionville, Margie Lange of Metropolis, Wilma Walls and husband Willard of Brookport and Doris Stites of Paducah; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jimmy Burrus; one sister, Gail Galbraith; one sister-in-law, Martha Wetherington; and three brothers-in-law, Bobby Lange, Donnie Lange and Gary Varvel.
Funeral service was held Saturday at Brookport Church of God with Rev. Charles Tate officiating. Music was provided by Darla Tate and Betty Holt.
Interment followed at Otterbien Cemetery in Pope County. Pallbearers were Jackie Burrus II, Gary Varvel, James Burrus, Johnny Wetherington, David Wade and Jimmy Lange.
