Born Feb. 13, 1923 in Pope County, Mr. Jones lived most of his life in Pope County.
After his father died in the late 1930s, he moved from New Columbia to Tansel, where his brother Clarence lived.
In 1945, he went to work for Morse Capley, where he worked for 11 years.
He bought the Heaton Orchard in 1955, where he grew both apples and peaches for more than 60 years of his life.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Wilson Jones; five sons, Jimmy Jones and wife Barbara, Hillis Jones and wife Joan, David Jones, Mark Jones and wife Jennifer and John Jones and wife Alicia; nine grandchildren, Bill Jones and wife Dana, Chris Jones and wife Karen, Lisa Tanner, Toby Jones and wife Tiffany, Rhonda Jones, Mindy Colley and husband Tim, Jillian Jones, Landon Jones and Cash Jones; 11 great-grandchildren, Ashley Williamson and husband Chad, Nathan Jones, Adam Jones and wife Emily, Melisa Maynard, Jason Tanner, Mary Jones, Azlynn Jones, Sam Jones, Andrew Jones, Dayton Colley and Natalie Colley; six great- great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Maynard, Kaidyn Hornsby, Kameron Hornsby, Drake Williamson, Aubrey Williamson and Eli Jones; two sisters, Joyce Choate and Blanche Watson; one sister-in-law, Georgia Palmer; and one brother-in-law, Dan Wilson and wife Jean.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nellie Faulkner Jones; one sister, Mary Hughes; and five brothers, Cecil Jones, Clarence Jones, George Jones, James Jones and Charlie Jones.
Funeral service was held Saturday at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville with Bro. Jerry Parr officiating. Burial followed at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
