Mr. Tate worked for 18 years at General Tire in Mayfield, Ky. until the company closed.
Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Peggy Tate of Metropolis; two sons, Tyler Tate of Metropolis and Justin Tate of Mayfield; one sister, Sandy Looper of Mayfield; one brother, Ronnie Tate of Mayfield; one stepdaughter, Melissa Watts of South Fulton, Tenn.; one stepson, Frankie Watts of Martin, Tenn.; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sammie and Linda Tate.
There was no funeral service or visitation.
Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home of Metropolis was in charge of arrangements.
