Ruby A. Bremer Buchanan, died Thursday, March 7, 2013 at at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.

Mrs. Buchanan was a lifetime member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Metropolis.

She retired from Laidlaw Corp. in Metropolis.

In her earlier years, she worked at the Good Luck Glove Co., and after her retirement, she worked at Chick-Fil-A.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Buchanan; three sons, Everett Bremer and wife Theresa, Derril Bremer and wife Geneene and Steven Bremer and wife Pam; four grandchildren, Benjamin Bremer and wife Jessica, Jason Bremer, Nicholas Bremer and wife Samantha and Erin Bremer; one great-granddaughter, Anniston Bremer; one sister, Dorothy Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul E. Bremer; her parents, Fred and Mayme Hittermann Horstmann; and one brother, Virgil Horstmann;

Funeral service was held Sunday at St. Stephens Lutheran Church with Pastor Tom Emmerson officiating. Music was provided by Connie Douglas, organist.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Benjamin Bremer, Jason Bremer, Nicholas Bremer, Monte Bremer, Blake Bremer and Mitch Bremer. Honorary pallbearers were Larry and Ronnie Robinson.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Miller Funeral Home of Metropolis was in charge of arrangements.
