Massac County’s Lady Patriots began their 2013 softball campaign with an irregular 11-7 win over Anna-Jonesboro Friday.

After climbing on top of A-J 6-0, the Lady Pats rallied for four runs in their last at bat to post the win.

Kaylee Childers rolled through A-J’s lineup the first time with a no-hitter, but the fourth and fifth innings were a different story as the Lady Wildcats erupted for seven runs and tied the game.

The big bats of Massac County came to life in the final inning, and Childers had settled down after the two rough innings shutting down the A-J offense to seal the deal.

After a pair of walks by A-J’s pitcher started the seventh inning, Gracyn “G-Mac” McBride singled to center to start the four-run, game-winning rally. For the day, McBride picked up where she left off last year with a four hit, four RBI day.
