Volunteers, teams and sponsors are encouraged to participate in the upcoming American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Massac County event, set for Friday, May 17 at Fort Massac State Park.
From organizing teams, to entertainment planning, to fundraising, there are countless ways to get involved and help make this cancer’s last century.
There may be only a few meetings left for the planning season, but that is still enough time to participate in some way.
The next meeting will be Monday, April 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the basement of the Metropolis Public Library, located at 317 Metropolis St.
“Relay For Life of Massac County is a fun, overnight event that celebrates cancer survivors and caregivers, remembers those who have lost their battle against the disease and empowers people to fight back,” said Amanda King, event co-chair.
The theme for this year’s event is “Lights! Camera! Relay!”
Teams are encouraged to develop sites for the evening around this theme.
To join the Relay For Life of Massac County as a volunteer, team captain, sponsor or participant and to learn more about the program, contact the American Cancer Society at 618-998-9898 or visit Facebook and search for Relay for Life of Massac County or online through http://www.relayforlife.org and search for the Massac County, Ill.
