With weather conditions already miserable and just getting worse, Massac County softball coach Pat Clark and Reidland coach Tony Hayden came to a gentleman’s agreement to call the championship game a rainout and declare co-champions.

Both teams rolled through the Lady Flash Invitational with 5-0-1 records with the “blemish” being a 5-5 tie in Friday’s nightcap.

Massac got things going Friday night with a win over Hopkins Central with Brittany McFall pitching a complete game. Friday’s nightcap with Reidland may have contained a seminal moment for this season in Massac’s last at bat.

Trailing 5-2 and hard against the time constraint for tournament games, Massac appeared poised to lose their first game of the year. But a two-out rally loaded the bases for Massac’s slugging young catcher Gracyn McBride.
