John Lipert, 99, of Metropolis, formerly from New Jersey, died Monday, April 1, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Lipert was a retired millwright and a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Metropolis.

Survivors include two daughters, Hedy Glembocki and husband Frank of Spring Lake, N.J. and Jan Warner and husband Jim of Port Townsend, Wash.; one son, William “Bill” Lipert of Metropolis; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Helena Sabaranska of Poland; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Albina Lipert; his wife, Ludwika Lipert; one grandson; one sister; and two brothers.

A prayer service was held Friday evening at Miller Funeral Home, and a funeral mass was held Saturday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Michael Christopher Mujule officiating.

Burial followed at Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Mr. Lipert’s family served as pallbearers.
