After the exciting 3-2 win over Herrin on April 22, the Patriot baseball team sort of kissed their sister with an 8-8 tie on April 23 against Benton.

The back-and-forth affair ended when the umps called the game due to darkness.

Benton grabbed a 3-0 lead after two innings before Massac put up their first marker in the bottom of the third.

Benton scored single runs in the fourth and sixth innings while Massac pushed across two runs in the fifth and sixth frames to knot the score at 5.

A scoreless seventh necessitated extra innings and in the top of the eighth, Benton appeared to have it won when they plated three runs for an 8-5 lead.
