Ruth Riepe, 95, of Metropolis, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013, at her residence with her family by her side.

Ruth was a member of Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ for 75 years, an avid quilter, a homemaker and a devoted Christian.

She was a role model for all of her children, family and friends.

Survivors include her husband of 76 years, Wendell Riepe; two sons, Clyde Riepe and wife Mary Kay of Bandana, Ky. and Jerry Riepe of Schiller Park; two daughters, Sue Skrine and husband Everett of Cicero and Darla Rivas and husband Luis of Traverse City, Mich.; one grandson, which she and Wendell raised, Todd Adams and wife Melanie of Braidwood; 1 special nephew, Duane Goins and wife Karen of Chicago; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Belle Averitt Dieckman; four brothers, Lavern, Ernest, George and James Dieckman; two sisters, Vanda Goins and Leonna Jones; and two infant children, Bobby Jean and Janet Kay Riepe.

Funeral service was held Monday at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Linwood Mathis and Robin Mizell officiating. Music was provided by Logan Libby and Veda Henson.

Burial followed at Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael Riepe, Hayden Farmer, Todd Adams, Chris Rivas, Tony Rivas and Duane Goins.
