Three young ladies from Metropolis will be representing Massac County in separate pageants related to the Miss Illinois title.

For the third year, the festivities will be held in Marion

The 2013 Miss Illinois, Miss Illinois Outstanding Teen and PreTeen Pageants will be held at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center Wednesday through Saturday.

Kelsey Strong, Miss Metropolis Outstanding Teen 2013 will compete for the title of Miss Illinois Outstanding Teen 2013 on Friday.

Taylor Deming as Miss Metropolis 2013 will compete in the Miss Illinois Scholarship Pageant on Saturday, vying for the title of Miss Illinois 2013.

During three nights of competition, young women from across the state will compete for the opportunity to represent Illinois at the 2014 Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, N.J. on Sunday, Sept. 15.

Twenty-seven Miss Illinois Outstanding Teen Contestants will be vying for the chance to represent Illinois at the 2014 Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant in Orlando, Fla. Friday through Sunday, Aug. 9-18.

Preliminary phases of competition, including lifestyle and fitness, evening wear, talent and on-stage question, will be contested on the nights of Wednesday and Thursday for the Miss Illinois contestants and Friday for the Miss Illinois Outstanding Teen and Pre-Teen Pageants.

However, area residents can vote now at the Miss Illinois website, www.missillinois.org, for the teen, preteen and princess photogenic competition, which features Miss Metropolis Teen Strong, Miss Metropolis Preteen Camryn Atkison and Miss Metropolis Princess Callie Beth Looper, daughter of Casey and Stephanie Looper.

Voting will end at 10 p.m. on Thursday. Only one vote per IP address is allowed. One hundred percent of the audience votes will determine the final winners of the photogenic award.

Also, new this year, individuals can vote for Illinois’ Peoples Choice in the Miss, Teen and Preteen categories. It is $1 per one vote and a person can vote as many times as they like. The girls with the most votes will become one of the semi-finalists at either Friday night’s Teen/Preteen Pageant or Saturday for the Miss Pageant.

Winners will be announced at the conclusion of the Miss Illinois’ Outstanding Teen and Pre-Teen Pageant.

“The Marion Cultural and Civic Center and the City of Marion have been wonderful to work with, and we are very excited to be here again. The city has been extremely welcoming,” said Amalia Schwerdtmann, board chairman.
