Jimmie Joe Wood, 74, of Decatur, formerly of Metropolis, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at his home.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at New Life Tabernacle Church in Macon. Burial will follow at Mt. Gilead Cemetery.

Jimmie was born on July 26, 1938 in Belknap, the son of William Wood and Flora Thorne Wood. He married Patricia Ruthann Short on April 10, 1964 in Joppa.

Jimmie was a member of New Life Tabernacle Church in Macon. He served in the U.S. Army.

Jimmie worked in housekeeping at Akorn from May 2006 until his death. He enjoyed leatherwork, computer gaming and loved music and singing.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Ruthann Wood of Decatur; one daughter Terina Green and husband Leon of Decatur; three grandchildren, Xavier Lewis, Cheyenne Lewis and Joshua Lewis; one brother, Paul Wood of Alabama; and two sisters, Margaret Ragsdale of Sebring, Fla. and Sharon Sullivan;

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Harold Wood, Hubert Wood and John William Wood Jr.; and one sister, Morlon Ragsdale.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur.

Memorials may be made to New Life Tabernacle Church Youth Building Fund, Macon, IL.
