Phyllis Anne McGinnis Hull, 66, of rural Tunnel Hill at Lake of Egypt, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at her home.

Born Jan. 21, 1947 in Vienna, Mrs. Hull graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1970 with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and later obtained a master’s degree from Northern Illinois University in 1990. She taught two years in southern Illinois before moving to northern Illinois where she taught first grade for 30 years at Grand Prairie Elementary in Plainfield. She retired from teaching in 2003.

Mrs. Hull attended Cornerstone Community Church in Marion. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International; Alpha Xi Chapter, Goreville Chapter 1009 Order of the Eastern Star, Red Hat Society, Johnson County Homemakers Extension and the Johnson County Retired Teachers Association. She was most recently accepted as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Michael Hull of Tunnel Hill; her daughter, Jennifer Homan and husband David of Tunnel Hill; and one grandson, David Jacob “D.J.” Homan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin L. and Pauline Rion McGinnis.

Funeral service was held Tuesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna with Dr. Michael Nave and Dr. Jerry Hull officiating. Burial followed at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
