Wrong again, kemo sabe.
It wasn’t Marcus, or Lucas, or Larry, or Lanny, or even Tom Grace. It was Marcus’ wife.
In a family-friendly, “use everyone’s shot” tournament held Friday night at Metropolis Country Club (MCC), Amy Grace stepped to the tee box on MCC’s hole 3, a 150-yard women’s tees par-3 hole, and took a whack with her driver that produced the most unlikely of results.
Her tee shot headed straight at the green, hit the upslope of the soggy green front and crawled like a whipped pup over the lip and into the hole.
Whooping and hollerin’ like a hillbilly hoedown followed. Mrs. Grace had a multitude of witnesses for the special event.
Talk about green with envy, most golfers never even get a good sniff of a hole-in-one, but Amy, who’s only been playing a few years now, drilled the ace on one of MCC’s most difficult holes.
The “tournament” was coordinated by Darian Rottman and is somewhat of a revival of past family events held at the course. Over a dozen families participated in spite of the afternoon’s downpour.
