Looking for something to do this Labor Day? Well, if it’s a parade and lot’s of musical entertainment, then the place to head is Metropolis, where the annual Labor Day Parade kicks off the day of activities at 10 a.m.

All parade entries and floats interested in participating in the parade are urged to be at the courthouse lawn at 9:30 a.m. The Lion’s Club, which sponsors the annual parade advises all entries must be child and family friendly.

The parade will begin at the courthouse and travel along Fifth Street and make its way to Fort Massac State Park, where the musical entertainment will start off at 2 p.m. with Metropolis’ own gospel group Cross Harmony.

Taking the stage at 3:30 p.m. will be the local group Mike Hardison and Friends.

At 5 p.m. the group, The Melungeons will be providing some folksy cover songs followed by Cuttin’ Jessie’s at 6:30 p.m.

Concessions will be available for purchase throughout the day, so the public is invited to bring a blanket or lawn chairs to Fort Massac and spend the day at the park.
