Charles David Jessing, 78, of Manchester, Tenn., formerly of Metropolis, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 at his home.

Visitation with the Jessing family will be Friday, Nov. 1 from 5-7 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis. Internment will be at Round Springs Cemetery in Massac County.

Mr. Jessing was born in Metropolis, the son of the late Albert and Emma Goyert Jessing.

He retired from Arnold Engineering Development Center as an operating engineer.

He also transferred vehicles for area car dealerships. He served his country in the Korean War.

Mr. Jessing attended St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Kent Jessing, one daughter, Lisa Bush and their mother, Betty Lewis Jessing, all of Manchester; one stepdaughter, Edna Murray of Manchester; one brother, Joe Jessing of Midlothian, Texas; one sister, Jean Bichon of Paducah; two grandchildren, Jonathan Bush and Taylor Bush, both of Manchester; and one stepgranddaughter, Magan Morris of Manchester.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and three sisters.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 4503 W. DeYoung St., Suite 200C, Marion, IL 62959; or to a local animal shelter of the donor’s choice.
