Phyllis Jean Kotter Garner, 83, of Metropolis, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Garner was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include her husband, Jack C. Garner I of Metropolis; two daughters, Pam Schwartz and husband Jim of Gainesville, Ga. and Patty Laird and husband Don of Metropolis; one son, Jay Garner and fiancée Jan Whitlock of Metropolis; five grandchildren, Angie Ball of Gainesville, Molly Lyon of Cumming, Ga., Pam Kreuter of Paducah, Donnie Laird II of Metropolis and Cory Garner of Philadelphia, Pa.; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary LaVeau, Adeline Edwards and Ann Taylor, all of Metropolis, and Geri Rushing of Paducah; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Anna Owens Kotter; two sisters, Helen Causer and Alice Dunn; and one brother, Robert Kotter.

Graveside service was held Tuesday at Metropolis Memorial Gardens with Donnie Laird II officiating.

Pallbearers were Donnie Edwards, Hunter Kreuter, Sammy Smith, Tim Mitchell, Larry Summers and Jason Wissinger.

Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis was in charge of arrangements.
