Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak with Rev. Alan Milligan and Rev. Steve Heisner officiating. Music will be provided by Sharon Wilson.
Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Cypress. Pallbearers will be Keith, Garrett, Trevor, Ryan and Bradley Wilson; Jeffery and Thomas Kester; and Holly Marr.
Doris was born April 7, 1916 in Karnak. She and Woodrow were married in February of 1937 during the 1937 flood. She was a member of Karnak United Methodist Church, the Karnak Lions Club, the Karnak United Methodist Woman and the Order of Eastern Star 710 in Belknap.
Doris was very active in the operation of Wilson Funeral Home as a lady attendant for well over 40 years.
Doris tried never to miss anything when her children, grandchildren or her great-grandchildren were involved. This included baseball, basketball, competitive roller skating and church and school activities. Doris loved it when her family could all be together and especially for the fish fries.
Survivors include one daughter, Suzann Kester and husband Norman of Pleasanton, Calif.; one son, Gary Wilson and wife Sharon of Karnak; five grandchildren, Keith Wilson and wife Holly of Karnak, Jeffery Kester and wife Candice of San Diego, Calif., Thomas Kester of Pacific Grove, Calif., Holly Ann Marr of Pleasanton and Garrett Wilson and wife Karen of Karnak; and four great-grandchildren, Trevor, Ryan and Bradley Wilson of Karnak and Kortney Marr of Pleasanton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson; one granddaughter, Deborah Lynn Kester; her parents, Frank and Elda Houseright Beck; and three sisters, Frances Barleston, Flora Mae Canada and Wilma Till.
