James “Bob” Kipp began his new role as plant manager at Joppa’s Electric Energy Inc. in December 2013.
In that short time, Kipp and the Joppa plant leadership team have already met with members of the Massac County Board of Commissioners, the cities of Metropolis and Joppa and the Massac-Metropolis Port District.
According to Kipp, he is looking forward to strengthening the relationships between the plant and local organizations because it is an important part of being a good neighbor and building the economic vitality of the area.
Before coming to Joppa, Kipp served in O’Fallon as the senior director of operational excellence for Dynegy Inc., implementing and managing the Dynegy PRIDE — Producing Results through Innovations by Dynegy Employees — operational efficiency improvement program.
Kipp began his career with Dynegy Midwest Generation, formerly the generating division of the regulated utility Illinois Power, at the Wood River Power Station in Alton, Illinois in 1984 and worked his way to management in just a few years.
Kipp grew up in Southern Illinois, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial technology from Southeast Missouri State University, and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Columbia Southern University.
