Boyd Meinders, 82, of Cahokia, formerly of Metropolis, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Jefferson Barracks VA Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo.

Born Sept. 8, 1931 in Metropolis, Mr. Meinders was a retired truck driver from Teamsters Local 600. He was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Proffer of Dupo; two sons, Chris Meinders and wife Brenda of East Carondelet and Tim Meinders and wife Barb of New Athens; one sister, Lois Meinders of Paducah; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Fowler Meinders; his parents, Noah and Mabel Lange Meinders; one brother, Cleo Meinders; and one son-in-law, Richard Proffer.

Funeral service was held Monday at Braun Colonial Funeral Home in Cahoki. Burial followed at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis County, Mo.

Memorials may be made to John Cochran Medical Center or Jefferson Barracks VA Hospital, both located in St. Louis.
