Dr. Arensman, a resident of Martinez since 1978, was born in Metropolis in 1940. He received his doctorate of veterinary medicine from the University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine, and he later earned a MBA from Augusta College.
He retired from the U.S. Army Veterinary Corp with 20 years of service, attaining the rank of Major.
Dr. Arensman worked throughout the CSRA Veterinary Community since his retirement from the Army in 1984. He worked for many years at the Augusta Animal Emergency Clinic and was currently working at VCA Columbia Animal Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Geri Arensman; two sons, Perry Arensman and wife Melissa and Doug Arensman; one daughter, Catherine Arensman; three grandchildren, Analora, Christopher and Sarah Arensman; one brother, Phil Arensman; two sisters, Jan Landrum and Nora Breznik and husband Carl.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry D. and Imogene C. Arensman.
Funeral service was held March 12 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with Rev. John Johnson officiating.
Platt’s Funeral Home in Evans, Ga. was in charge of arrangements.
