A solid season from the Joppa High School Lady Rangers ended May 20 at Golconda at the hands of Goreville’s Lady Black Cats.

Joppa’s Haley Martin took the loss for Joppa but pitched better than the 10-0 six-inning score would indicate.

Some soft defensive play behind her and some tough Goreville bats combined to do her in.

Goreville’s Brittany Pritchett held Joppa’s bats in check. limiting the Lady Rangers to just one hit — Katie Bennett’s first inning double.

Bennett also turned in a couple of fine plays at third base, but it was to no avail as Goreville posted the shutout.

Joppa ended its season with 8 wins and 6 losses.
