William “Bill” Johnston, 67, of Grand Chain, formerly of Cairo, died Sunday, June 1, 2014 at his home.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak with Rev. Steve Heisner officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery in Grand Chain. 

Mr. Johnston was the superintendent at the Metropolis Country Club, past chairman of the Horseshoe Lake Ducks Unlimited Chapter and was the former owner of the Riverside Motors in Cairo.  He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Cairo. 

Survivors include his wife, Patti Reichert Johnston of Grand Chain; one son, William Hunter Johnston of Philadelphia, Pa.; his mother, Alice Dunn Johnston of Cairo; one brother, Charles Johnston of Cairo; one sister, Barbara Bauerle of White Hall, Mont.; and two nephews, Danial Johnston and Alex Bauerle.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh R. Johnston.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 4 at the funeral home.
