Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11 at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Matthew Kelley and Rev. Dr. Calvin Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Marcella was a telephone operator during World War II. During that time, she was a loving and faithful supporter of two brothers, Richard and Leo, and sweetheart Norval, all of whom served in combat. She married that sweetheart, Norval Kelley, on July 5, 1947.
Her life was highlighted by her unconditional love of family, especially children and grandchildren. That love was returned by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by sons, Lloyd and wife Debbie of Brentwood and Kevin and wife Sheila of Metropolis; three grandsons, Matthew and wife Jessica, Andrew and wife Alexis and Karson Kelley; one stepgrandson, Aaron Clark and wife Courtney; two stepgranddaughters, Carly Eskridge and husband Austin and Hailey Burnham; four great-grandchildren, Kate, Jack, Claire and Ben Kelley; four stepgreat-grandchildren, Keaton Clark, Hudson and Harrison Burnham, and Emerson Eskridge; and one sister Patricia Frye.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norval; one son, Wayne; her parents, Charles and Mabel Karraker; one sister, Annabelle; and three brothers, Lowell, Leo and Richard.
Visitation will be held from noon until the funeral hour on Wednesday at the funeral home.
