Jane Gayle Castleman, 71, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 6:30 a.m. at her home in Paducah.

Jane was born in 1942 to Richard and Georgila Stearns in Louisiana, Missouri. She graduated in 1960 from Aledo High School then attended business college in Springfield, where she met her husband, Bill Castleman, and married in February 1963. They were married 48 years until Bill passed in May 2011.

Jane was of Methodist faith and was baptized in the Ohio River many years ago. Jane was involved over the years in many organizations including legal secretaries, Democrat Women’s group and Homemakers. Many people remember Jane from her work at the Massac County Courthouse and the driver’s license facility.

She enjoyed a love of crappie fishing, camping, crafting, reading and nature. She and Bill spent many years watching wildlife from their front porch.

Her greatest joy was time spent with her husband, family and friends.

She is survived by two children: a daughter, Cathy and husband Kevin, and a son, Brad and wife Kelley. She had four grandsons: Tony (Stacy), Cody (April), Jacob and Zach (Lavonia). Jane had one great-grandson, Hunter Michael.

Her grandchildren brought her great joy, and she spent as much time as possible sharing her love of nature, playing and loving them from their birth to present. She had a great sense of pride for all of her grandsons. Hunter Mike was a bright ray of sunshine to Jane bringing her great happiness and making her smile through her final days.
