Mr. William A. “Bill” Kineman, 83, of Brookport, died at 3:40 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014 at Lourdes hospital. He was born on Dec. 21, 1930 to Charlie and Ida Kineman.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at the Brookport Funeral Chapel with Bro. David LeNeave officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Sterling Cemetery in Brookport with military rites.

Mr. Kineman was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as staff sergeant during the Korean War. He retired as captain at the Shawnee Correctional Center with 30 years of service in the Illinois Department of Corrections. He was a life member of the Illinois Police Association and VFW and a member of the Illinois Sheriff’s Association and the American Legion.

He was a Mason, twice past Master of Farmer’s Lodge #232 in Brookport, in which he belonged for 47 years, and was of the Protestant faith.

He is survived by his children, Debra Herzog and husband Edwin of Chowchilla, California, Robin Hughes of Brookport, and Douglas Kineman and wife Karen of Kevil, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Sarah Kineman and fiancé Steven Bell of Turlock, California, Melissa Herzog and fiancé Robert Stimpel of Santa Cruz, California, Kurtis Kineman of Kevil, Landon Hughes of Brookport, and Brody Hughes of Brookport; three great-grandchildren, Megan and Israel Armenta of Turlock, California, and Christiana Herzog of Santa Cruz, California; two brothers, Ernest Kineman and wife Marlene of Brookport, and Lanis Kineman and wife Nancy of Sun City, Arizona; one sister, Velda Jones of Bardwell, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Elva Reynolds and Patricia Kineman; two brothers, Amuel Kineman and Charles Kineman.

Masonic rites were held Tuesday at the Brookport Funeral Chapel.

Pallbearers were Kurtis Kineman, Landon Hughes, Pete Seifrid, Donnie Kaylor, Steven LaFont and Ron Kineman.
