Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m. at Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home in Paducah with Rev. Joseph Benberry officiating.
Michael was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam Era.
He was a postal carrier at the Paducah branch of the U.S. Postal Service, from where he retired.
Survivors include his wife, Shelia Fay McDonald of Metropolis; three sons, Ronald McDonald of Brookport, Travis Thomas of Metropolis and Paris Thomas of Grays Lake, Wisconsin; two daughters, Meredith McDonald and Andrea McDonald, both of Brookport; four brothers, Malcolm McDonald of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Martin McDonald of Denver, Colorado, Neil B. McDonald of Killeen, Texas and Bruce K. McDonald of Oakland, California; one sister, Andrea McDonald-Sutton of Metropolis; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Early Clauzell McDonald; his mother, Bernice Jeanette Summerville Lane; and three brothers.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday at the funeral home.
