Nelma Bremer, 70, of Metropolis, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Bremer had worked at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis and was a substitute teachers aide for Massac Unit One School District.

Mrs. Bremer was a board member of MAP Training Center in Karnak.

She was a gifted quilter and was a member of Metropolis First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Lloyd Bremer of Metropolis; one son, Michael Bremer of Metropolis; one brother, Jim Modglin and wife Sue of Metropolis; one sister, Pat Turnbow of Granada Hills, California; one aunt, Shirley McFarland of Pearland, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marie Modglin; and an infant brother, Lee Modglin.

Funeral service was held Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Metropolis with Rev. Don Lindner officiating.

Burial followed at St. John Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Steve Russell, Mark Bremer, Jim Modglin II, Mark Souders, Marvin Ellerbusch and Norman Ellerbusch.

Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
