Expectations are high for this year’s Massac County High School volleyball team and so far, so good.

After a hard fought win at Marion to open the season, the girls trounced Paducah Tilghman in their home opener and then brought home second place in the Southern Illinois River to River Conference tournament held Saturday at Herrin.

The hotly contested 26-24 and 25-16 win at Marion got things off on the right foot for the ladies, and the 25-11 and 25-13 spanking of the Lady Blue Tornado at home kept things rolling going into the conference tourney.
