Society to host hike Saturday
The River-to-River Society will host a hike to Burden Falls Wilderness in Pope County on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m., with Kelly Pearson of the U.S. Forest Service as leader. Participants should meet in the parking lot at Burden Falls, which is located on Burden Falls Road, four miles west of Delwood. All hikes are free and are moderate difficulty. Boots or sturdy shoes and a walking stick are recommended. Hikers should bring their own water and a snack. No dogs are allowed. For information, call 630-470-7692.
Pink Out game scheduled
Century High School will hold its annual Pink Out game on Tuesday, Dec. 3 with a meal to be served at 5 p.m., with the game starting at 6 p.m. between the Lady Centurions and the Lady Demons of Dongola. All events will be held at the with the game in the gym. There will be multiple ways to support Pink Out, including a live auction and a quilt drawing. Retired employees from AlliedSignal/Honeywell will meet for breakfast at 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2 at Waffle Hut, located off I-24, Exit 3 on Old Cairo Road.
Quilters gather on Monday
Massac County Quilters will meet at 9 a.m. the first Monday of each month at the Metropolis Community Center at 900 W. 10th St. Workshops or demonstrations are held monthly. Anyone interested in quilting is invited to attend. For information, call 270-558-5596.
Caregivers support available
The Season of Honor: Caring For the Caregiver Support meets at 6 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month in the atrium classroom at Baptist Health Paducah on the second floor of Medical Park 2. Gamblers Anonymous meets every Thursday evening at 6 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 100 E. Fifth St. in Metropolis. Attendees are encouraged to enter from the south side of the church.
Grief support group available
Lourdes Hospice's Metropolis location, located at 704 E. Fifth St., will host a monthly grief support group the first Tuesday of each month at noon. This is a free support group and is open to anyone who would like to attend. For information, call the Metropolis office at 618-524-3757.

Retired teacher to meet
The Pope/Hardin Retired Teachers will meet at the Golconda Golden Circle, located at 217 S Adams St, at noon on December 4. Marsha Griffin , the Community Outreach Liaison from the Office of the Attorney General, will present a program on the latest attempts at scams in the area. Also, new officers will be appointed and meeting plans and dates for 2020 will be finalized. All retired educators are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Breakin' Even to perform
Breakin' Even will be the featured band at Monday Night Live on Dec. 2, starting at 6:30 p.m. Held at the Metropolis Community Center, located at 900 W. 10th St., Monday Night Live features live bands and dancing. A donation is required in order for this program to continue.
