ACS gospel concert is set
The annual American Cancer Society gospel benefit will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 at First United Methodist Church, located on the corner of East Fifth and Ferry streets in Metropolis, featuring Greater Vision. Center to host movie Sunday
Cache River Wetlands Center, located on Ill. 37 south of Cypress, will host a Summer Movie, "Rivers of Life," from 2-3 p.m. Sunday. Visitors will learn about the wildlife and people who inhabit the river scape of the Nile River, the longest river in the world. For more information, call 618-657-2064.
Breakin' Even to perform
Breakin' Even will be the featured band at Monday Night Live on July 29 starting at 6:30 p.m. Held at the Metropolis Community Center, located at 900 W. 10th St., Monday Night Live features live bands and dancing. A donation is required in order for this program to continue.
Softball camp is Saturday
Shawnee Community College Saints will hosts its first ever summer softball camp from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday for children and youth, ages 6-18. The camp will take place at the college's softball field. Campers will learn the fundamentals of base running, fielding, pitching and hitting. The cost is $50, which includes a T-shirt. Ranch to host special event
Tanglefoot Ranch, located in the Flatwoods community, will be the site of an event on Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m. Food, music and karaoke will be featured.
