Clothing closet open in JoppaJoppa United Methodist Church is hosting a free clothing closet twice a week. Offering men’s, women’s and children’s clothes, plus books and toys, the closet is open from 8 a.m. until noon on Mondays and Fridays at the church parsonage, 180 Pope St.

Legion Ladies Auxiliary hosting Lucky SevensThe Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 306 will host a Lucky Sevens event the first Saturday of each month at the legion hall, 321 Market St., Metropolis. The next event is Saturday, Feb. 4.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with early bird games starting at 6 p.m. Players may bring daubers, or they may be purchased at the post.

The auxiliary will also have cheeseburgers for sale during the event. All proceeds benefit the auxiliary and its programs for area veterans.
