A third man charged with murder in connection with an Aug. 8 shooting in Paducah has been arrested.
Demonta D. Woodward, 21, of Mounds, turned himself in at the Paducah Police Department Nov. 11. He was arrested on warrants charging him with murder, three counts of first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree criminal mischief. He was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
An investigation revealed there is an on-going, violent feud between two groups of people from Mounds and Cairo. Members of those two groups came to Paducah the evening of Aug. 8 to attend Emancipation Day festivities. Witnesses said those group members encountered each other on Boyd Street and words were exchanged. Several of them then produced handguns and multiple shots were fired.
Keyshawn Childress, 32, of Mounds, was killed in the August shooting and four others were injured.
Christopher Howard and Jermaine Harris, both of Cairo, and Woodward were identified as three of the shooters involved in a gun battle that resulted in the death of Childress. Howard and Harris were arrested in September — Howard in Columbia, Missouri, and Harris in Carbondale.
The investigation is continuing.
