Gov. JB Pritzker’s mandatory shelter in place is affecting all industries and the national and local economies amidst the international pandemic of coronavirus COVID-19.
To help provide as much information as we can to our readers, as things are continually changing on a day-to-day basis, all stories on www.metropolisplanet.com related to the coronavirus outbreak do not require an online subscription.
In the coming weeks you will see changes to the Metropolis Planet to help decrease expenses during this difficult time. The Metropolis Planet will decrease the number of pages to eight to 10 pages each week.
Unfortunately some weekly features will be removed to make this transition, but they will be posted on our website. At this time, those features moving to online only include our television listings and Yesterday’s News.
We will also not produce a weekly sports page until sports at our local high schools resume. We are hopeful to add the sports page back very soon.
Cancellations of local events and closures of local attractions and businesses have forced us to move the 2020 Backyard Adventures magazine to a later date this summer for publication.
Also in the coming weeks, the circulation of the Southern Scene may be decreased to city routes only in Massac County and Johnson County rural and city routes, meaning if you receive your Southern Scene in your mailbox this may be eliminated until the revenue from the inserts return. The Southern Scene can also be found on our website by clicking on the Scene tab on the toolbar.
It is also a possibility our office hours will be reduced from time to time due to staff working remotely. If we do not answer the phone, we can be reached at email@example.com.
Thank you for your understanding as we all navigate this trying time.
