On behalf of the Greater Metropolis Convention and Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), welcome to Metropolis for the annual Fort Massac Encampment. We are so happy you are here to celebrate our rich heritage and let history come to life in the park.

“Adventure Begins” in Metropolis, and we want you to find your adventure here.

Of course, there will be plenty of adventures this weekend at Fort Massac State Park, but be sure to visit some other places in and around Metropolis as well.

We have many unique boutiques and antique stores that are sure to meet your shopping pleasures. Even though there is plenty of delicious food at the Encampment, there are wonderful local eateries that people travel from miles around just to eat at in Metropolis. Hopefully, you will get a chance to check at least one of them out while you are in town.

A trip to Metropolis wouldn’t be complete without a picture with Superman, so be sure to go to Superman Square and get that picture before you head home. And who would Superman be without Lois Lane? You can find a statue of her at the corner of Eighth and Market streets, so stop by for a photo with her as well.

If after all the fun of the Encampment and adventures of Metropolis have not exhausted you, stop by Harrah’s Casino for hot Las Vegas Style gaming on the beautiful Ohio River.

If you are tired after all your Metropolis adventures, don’t worry. Metropolis has over 600 hotel rooms ready to be your home away from home every night of the year. Not only are these hotel rooms a wonderful place for you to stay while in Metropolis, they are also vital to the Fort Massac Encampment, as well as other events in Metropolis.

All major events in Metropolis are primarily funded through the hotel/motel tax collected from overnight visitations. If you are staying in Metropolis, thank you. We truly appreciate your support. You are helping events like the Encampment continue to remain and grow in Metropolis. If you are looking for a way to support the Encampment, we invite you to stay in one of the recommended hotels you find on the GMCVB website.

Again, the GMCVB welcomes you to Metropolis and hopes you have an amazing weekend. We invite you back anytime throughout the year.

Always check out www.metropolistourism.com for up to date information on Metropolis events and happenings or follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

We would love to see your pictures from your time with us this weekend on those pages as well!
