Atkinson scholarship awarded

Each year the Sabrina Dawn Atkinson Scholarship is awarded to a Massac County High School student who will be a junior. This year’s recipient, LaMya Roach, was recognized on Aug. 12 at Shawnee College’s Metro Center. Joining Roach on the occasion were from left: Trina Martin, her mother and Hayley Story, Shawnee Community College admissions advisor. The scholarship pays tuition and fees for one class and books. If the student decides to pick up another class, SCC will match the cost of the second class. Roach works at McDonald’s and plans to take a child psychology class at SCC.
