Items continue to come in for the annual Metropolis Kiwanis and Rotary Scholarship Spaghetti Supper’s silent auction. Recently donated for the fundraiser are: a handcrafted inlaid 3-by-3.5-by-3-inch wooden box by woodworker Monte Bremer; a handcrafted knife with an antique World War II-era German steel blade by Bobby Wessel; 8-by-8-inch handmade stoneware tile trivets resembling a quilt square that can also be hung by Sharon Chalke; a 6-by-18-inch Bourbon Flight made from mahogany and purple heart wood created by Monte Bremer; a 9-by-8.5-inch green and blue hand-coiled stoneware clay vase by Linda Ohmes; and a trivia game donated by Ribbons & Bows. Those interested in donating items for the auction can contact Landon Bremer at 618-524-2161 or Rita Park at 618-309-1930. The Scholarship Spaghetti Supper will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at Massac Junior High School. The event raises money for scholarships, which will be presented April 27 during the 38th annual Academic Awards Ceremony, to seniors graduating from Joppa and Massac County high schools. Tickets are now available from a Kiwanian or can be purchased at the door the night of the event.
