Let’s start with birthdays this week. Give Darlene Troutt a big shout out today. Cheryl Nix celebrates July 11. Both Clint Bryant and Daniel Rucker are a year older July 12. Gloria McGhee has another birthday July 14 and Keith Rodgers and Brandon Workman will put another notch on their belts July 15. I hope everyone has a notable and enjoyable birthday.

There’s not much action in town. The old Rhodes building was supposed to come down and the water project was to start 10 days from the signing. Neither has been started. I’ll have to inquire at the next city council meeting which will be Tuesday, July 14 at 7 pm.

I’m not sure if the council room will be open this time but groups of 50 are allowed now. Masks would be recommended with social distancing. Check with city hall. Lori Klotz should be on duty as city clerk next week. The agenda is posted by Monday on the door. If the meeting will still be online, the agenda gives the code.

Saturday was pretty colorful with the fireworks going off all over town. Any virus particles should have been blown to bits. However, it’s still going to be a problem for a while so we must do the best we can to contain it. Everyone is a suspect now. Try to stay safe and healthy and take precautions.
