ICRF donations

Eight local agencies and organizations were awarded a total of $39,000 in grant funding last Thursday. The funds were distributed by the Illinois COVID-19 Response (ICRF) through the Southern Illinois Community Foundation (SICF) and the Massac County United Way.

The United Way of Illinois and the Alliance of Illinois Community Foundations, in collaboration with the Office of Gov. JB Pritzker, established the ICRF to raise funds from individual, corporate and foundation donors to be disbursed to nonprofit organizations across the state serving individuals, families and communities hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic.

To date the ICRF has awarded $16.7 million in funds. Local organizations received a combined $39,000 in funds. Organization are:

$5,000 — Reaching For Kids

$5,000 — At the River Ministries

$5,000 — United Methodist Church Assistance Fund

$11,000 — Shawnee Development Council — Massac

$3,000 — Happy Hearts Senior Center

$3,000 — Guardian Family Services

$4,000 — Joppa Missionary Baptist

$3,000 — COPE Food Pantry

The focus areas are to be eligible for funding are:

• Emergency food and basic supplies

• Interim housing and shelter

• Primary health care services

• Rent/Utility assistance

• Direct financial assistance for household expenses

• Supports for children and other vulnerable populations

• Nonprofit safety and operations assistance
