ULLIN — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking bids for a three-year permit to farm 210 acres. within the Bellrose Waterfowl Reserve, which is part of Cypress Creek National Wildlife Refuge.
Cooperative agriculture provides benefits to both the refuge and the individual farmer.
The cooperative farmer receives economic profits from growing and harvesting a portion of the crop , while the remaining crop left in the field at Bellrose is used to achieve waterfowl management objectives by providing habitat and supplemental food throughout the waterfowl migration.
Interested individuals have the opportunity to submit a bid/per acre for the Cooperative Agricultural opportunity at Bellrose.
The selected permittee will be responsible for meeting all special requirements and farming 210 acres from 2021 to 2023.
