Dishing it up

Although the exact amount of money raised at this year's St. John Lutheran Church's annual Ice Cream Social is still being calculated, Pastor Kent Hollis reports this year's event was well-attended. The church prepared about 170 gallons of vanilla and 130 gallons of pineapple orange ice cream. The annual event features food and the starring attraction -- ice cream. Donations are taken at the event and 10 percent of the proceeds benefits St. John Lutheran Church youth center, another 10 percent goes to the junior-senior youth fund and the remaining money will be divided between two families this year, to assist with medical expenses.
