MICHELE LONGWORTH | Metropolis Planet
George Wilson, former National Football League (NFL) player, hands the microphone to a Metropolis Elementary School (MES) student to ask a question following his talk to fourth through sixth graders on Oct. 24. Wilson told the students he realized his dream was to play in the NFL when he was in the fourth grade. Wilson, who lives in Paducah, told students how he made sacrifices in order to achieve his dream and noted the importance education had in his life. He is a cousin and former student of MES Assistant Principal Art Davis, who had asked Wilson to speak during Red Ribbon Week. After his presentation, Wilson answered questions, posed for photos and signed autographs on sticky notes.
