County firefighters get cancelled enroute
On Jan. 4 the Massac County Fire Department was dispatched at 3:02 p.m. to Interstate 24 to mile marker 22 to provide mutual aid for a report of a semi truck on fire. While enroute, the department was cancelled and all units were back in service at 3:31 p.m.
And, on Jan. 5, county firefighters were dispatched at 5:20 p.m. to a report of an accident near the intersection of U.S. 45 and Ill. 145. The department was cancelled while enroute and all units were back in service at 5:30 p.m.
City firefighters respond to medicals
During the past two weeks, the Metropolis Fire Department has responded to a total of three medical emergency calls. On Jan. 1 the fire department was called to the area near the city pool for a report of smoke. Upon arrival the department discovered someone was burning debris.
And on Jan. 3, the department was dispatched to Humma Apartments for a report of a suspicious odor. Upon arrival, the department learned someone had sprayed bug spray.
